Horizon Cardiology

Horizon Cardiology™, a cardiovascular information system (CVIS) from McKesson, enables you to improve quality of care, boost efficiencies and reduce costs while increasing clinician satisfaction. The system’s unique parallel workflows are the key to improving the adoption rate of structured data reporting for cardiac and peripheral catheterisation, haemodynamic monitoring, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, nuclear cardiology and ECG management. The single database design of Horizon Cardiology overcomes the perception that dictation is faster than structured reporting. The physician starts with a report that has up to 90% of the data already present. In addition, this structured data can easily be extracted to support registry submissions, such as the BCIS registry. The unique parallel workflows of Horizon Cardiology bring together the clinical information required for better and safer decisions in patient care.

Horizon Cardiology Echovascular

Horizon Cardiology supports ultrasound exams for echocardiography, foetal, congenital (paediatric through adult) and vascular. To boost staff efficiency, the ultrasound solution automatically imports measurements via DICOM Structured Reporting (SR). In addition, the reports can highlight abnormal measurements on the reporting screen, and can automatically generate report sentences based upon measurements. The system reduces report creation time by providing report templates with pre-defined sentences for different clinical conditions. For congenital and foetal echo exams, Horizon Cardiology offers Z-score analysis of measurements based upon either the Children’s Hospital of Michigan1 or Children’s Hospital of Boston datasets. The indices of the Z-score datasets for paediatric patients are based upon BSA and for foetal patients are based upon gestational age.

Horizon Cardiology Integrated Cath Lab

McKesson introduced the concept of the integrated cath lab (ICL) to provide a platform that allows your hospital to manage the complete periprocedural workflow of the cath environment. Our unique single platform design supports workflows that eliminate redundant data entry and provide a complete cardiovascular enterprise medical record including images, reports, waveforms and integrated charge management. The components of our ICL include holding area charting, nurse charting in the lab, hemodynamic monitoring and reporting, charge management, inventory management, and imaging and reporting for the cardiologist. The single database design of this ICL provides improved efficiency, reduces potential errors and improves charge capture for both technical and professional services.

Horizon Cardiology Hemo with Integrated FFR

Horizon Cardiology Hemo supports patients of all ages using unique parallel workflows to deliver a modular solution with complete flexibility to address your particular cath lab environment. Patient demographics, medication information, haemodynamic waveforms, fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurements, images and procedural information all flow seamlessly into one complete patient record. The result — repetitive data entry is eliminated and information is intuitively accessible from any location.

Integration of Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) measurements into the McKesson haemodynamic system enables the acquisition of the FFR sample and relevant clinical documentation. The FFR pressure wire connects to the McKesson haemo hardware via a compact and low-cost interface device, eliminating the need for extra instrumentation. The FFR pressure snapshot is saved together with the FFR result and becomes an integral part of the patient’s record. An intuitive user interface allows for allocation of the FFR result to a lesion and the unique single database infrastructure enables this data to automatically appear in the physician’s report. This enhancement improves the cath lab workflow and ensures the availability of this crucial procedural data.

Horizon Cardiology ECG Management

Horizon Cardiology ECG Management provides an end-to-end solution for 12 and 15 lead resting ECGs taken from a multi-vendor list of ECG carts and patient bedside monitors. The web based client enables anywhere, anytime access to ECGs for cardiologists, clinicians, and departmental administrators. Smart workflow tools streamline the administration and clinical over-reading of ECG’s while automatically distributing results across the enterprise. An integral part of the single database design of Horizon Cardiology - it complements the patient’s cardiac medical record, providing the clinical staff with the entire cardiac patient history.
